As the Hippocrates says the food which we have everyday can be the best medicine. It can be both curative and preventive. But unfortunately in todays modern world food has become the major root cause for most of our health problems. People require energy and certain essential nutrients. These nutrients are essential because the body cannot make these nutrients on its own and must obtain them from food. Essential nutrients include vitamins, minerals, certain amino acids and certain fatty acids. Food also contain fiber and other components that are important for health. Each of these food components have a specific function and are required for overall health. We need to care of ourself with knowledge how the body is working and why.
